Four Judson University students were involved in a multiple-car accident on State Road 31 that has taken the lives of two students.

The Judson community mourns the loss of Dallas Colburn, a senior from Plano, Ill., and Nathanael Madison, a senior from Wernersville, Pa., who were killed at approximately 9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20, due to the accident on State Road 31 near the entrance to campus. Two other students were treated at Sherman Hospital with one sustaining serious injuries. All of the students were seniors in Judson’s architecture program.

Judson officials went to the hospital to provide support to the students. Judson President Gene Crume shared news of the accident with Judson’s residential students in a special meeting held at 1:30 a.m. that night in the Lindner Fitness Center located on Judson’s Elgin campus.

“We are deeply saddened and mourn this tragic loss tonight. We grieve with the families and ask for prayers for the students and their families,” said Dr. Crume. “Our prayers are also with the students who were injured and who will be impacted by this tragic accident. We continue to trust in God who walks alongside us in every situation.”

Judson’s Wellness Center staff will be available to talk with any students who are struggling with this loss. Herrick Chapel will be available to students all day on Wednesday in memory of the two students who passed away. The university will announce plans later in the week for memorial services on Judson’s campus to honor the two students who passed away.
